South Africa’s finest, Cassper Nyovest, was a guest on Power 105.1 FM’s Breakfast Club to discuss African Hip-Hop, his future and his journey so far.
Earlier last month, he reached out to Charlamagne on Twitter saying he’d be in New York in August and wanted to pass by for the interview. Based on the tweet and response, it seemed like the two had an earlier agreement.
The rapper spoke about his wonderful journey and success as an independent artist.
When asked if he’d ever want to sign with an African label, He vehemently told Charlamagne Tha God, Angela Yee and DJ Envy that he would never consider signing to any African label.
I wouldn’t sign to Roc Nation Africa, I want to sign with Jay-Z.
He went on to talk about how he has managed to collaborate with artists such as Talib Kweli, Black Thought, DJ Drama and more.
Nyovest was glad to breakdown the meaning behind some of his lines on songs like “Confused” and “I Wasn’t Ready For You” to Charlamagne who seemed like a pretty big fan of Cassper’s music.
Enjoy!
