Mr Drew’s “Eat” Video Taken Down By YouTube for Copyright Infringement

Burgeoning Highly Spiritual signed artiste Mr Drew’s “Eat” music video has been taken down by YouTube for copyright infringement.

“Eat” which features Stonebwoy is a follow up to his highly successful single “Dw3” with label mate Krymi featuring Sarkodie. The song which made it on our latest update on New Ghanaian Music You Need To Hear was doing very well, positioned at number 7 on Ghana’s YouTube trendlist at the time of takedown.

“Eat” however unlawfully samples instrumentals and melodies from Nigerian-American R&B singer and actor Rotimi’s 2019 released “Love Riddim”.

Although Mr Drew clearly indicated his version is somewhat a cover of the original in the caption and description of his YouTube video upload, it appears he did not have the clearance from Empire (under which the original song is licensed) to use the sample.

It is very likely audio uploads of “Eat” on other digital streaming services will subsequently be taken down.
