Teenage Ghanaian singer-songwriter, Herman Suede, releases love-themed “One By One” – his third single release of the calendar year.
Making a good first impression with his debut single “Be Mine” some three years ago, the teenage prodigy has not looked back since. Still only 17, Herman Suede continues to leave his mark on the Ghanaian music scene.
Last year was undoubtedly his best year yet as he successfully outdoored his 6-track debut EP “Hi I’m Herman” to raving reviews; headlined his first concert dubbed “After Prep”; and was featured on African rap superstar Sarkodie’s “Womba” off his critically acclaimed “Black Love” album.
Notorious for penning love bops, “One By One” is ironically the only love-themed song he has released so far this year, coming hot on the heels of earlier outdoored songs “Free” and “Star“.
Herman Suede’s dulcet voice and infectious melodies, coupled with S.Kool Beatz’s production prowess, makes the upbeat afro-infused jam an irresistible earworm! The opening verse sees Herman paint a picture of a party scene, where this damsel catches his eye from across the dancefloor. He then proceeds to serenade her, expressing his intent to patiently win her over one step at a time, thus the song title: “One By One”.
Although predominantly written and performed in English, the song’s bridge sees Herman transition to singing in Ga (native Ghanaian dialect), perhaps in an attempt to express the depths of his affection.
