Abstrakte Productions’ first feature film ‘Lucky’ is set to be premiere today September 7th 2018.
The film chronicles a day in the life of Lucky Barima Mensah, a university student and his best friend Wadaada. With not a cedi to his name, Lucky just landed the date of the century with the most popular girl on social media. The two friends face a series of mishaps and adventures as they attempt to raise some quick cash to make this dream date a reality.
“Lucky” perfectly blends new faces; Kumi Obuobisa, Kabuki Akiwumi and Efya Awindor, with veterans and household names; Fred Amugi, Akofa Edjeani, Solomon Fixon-Owoo, and Psalm Ajetefio just to name a few.
Produced by Lawrence Adjei and written/directed by Togbe Gavua, Lucky is a gripping tragi-comedy that will leave you at the edge of your seat.
But let’s first spill 5 secrets we bet you did not know about this film.
BASED ON REAL-LIFE
Well although the entire story could not have possibly been based on real-life [events considering the timely coincidences and misfortunes], writer-director Togbe Gavua revealed that most of the characters are actually caricatures of real people he knows or has had the pleasure of meeting.
POLICE STATION SCENE
Stil on the real-life elements Togbe Gavua again revealed that he actually spent a night in the same police station which was featured in the movie.
LUCKY’S HAIR
Lead actor Kumi Obuobisa actually grew his hair specifically for the role and decided to keep it after.
9 YEARS COMING
Writer-Director Togbe Gavua and lead actor Kumi Obuobisa have known each other since their University days [9 years ago] and have been talking and brainstorming about making films since.
MUSIC INDUSTRY ASSIST
The Abstrakte team collaborated extensively with a number of music video industry cats such as Lex McCarthy and North Productions [David Nicol-Sey] to pull the ‘Lucky’ project off.
Abstrakte Productions have dabbled with music video production previously having done some work for the likes of Efya, Pappy Kojo, Sena Dagadu, Edem, Darkovibes and many more.
