Nana Calis Drops A Highlife Tune Dubbed “Duaba”

Nana Calis Duaba

Ghanaian musician Nana Calis revisits the cultural essence of Ghanaian highlife with his latest release “Duaba”.

After VIP’s Ahomka Womu this is one tune that comes close to the rhythmic yet cultural honesty of Ghanian Love songs. Nana Calis is one of the young Ghanaian singers leading the highlife renaissance. He is a member of an Accra based music collective called Diety set. He draws his inspiration from a long line of highlife legends like Daddy Lumba, Dasebere Gyamenah, Ofori Amposah.

In his new song Duaba, Nana sings in his local Twi dialect about love and also how lovers should treat each other with equality and respect. Duaba means fruit in Twi. The song talks about how love can flourish to become beneficial to both partners.

With this tune, Nana Calis hopes to join the likes of King Promise, Kuami Eugene, and Kidi who are doing their best to redefine Ghanaian Highlife music.

His big plan is to reassert Highlife music as a dominant Afro-Pop sub-genre in the World.
