Undoubtedly one of the most genre-diverse music scenes in Africa, South Africa’s vibrant music scene accurately reflects the country’s unique history. This week’s shortlist of New South African Music comprises elements of Afro-folk, Hip-hop, and of course Amapiano, the new sound wave taking over South Africa at the moment.
Focalistic – Full Sette
Focalistic keeps his fans in the loop with is recently released “Quarantined Tarantino” EP. Titled “Full Sette”, the song follows the same sentiments of the previous week’s “Bothata Keng”, but this time over a laid-back Hercules production.
Elaine – You’re the One
R&B sensation Elaine has finally released visuals to her 2019 breakout single “You’re the One”. The chart-topping song is the lead single to her EP “Elements”, released in September 2019. Watch the beautiful Shala The Unicorn music video below.
LaSauce – Njalo
Ambitiouz Entertainment’s La Sauce delivers R&B single titled “Njalo”. This is her debut offering for 2020. The song is the lead single for her sophomore album which is currently in production, a follow up to her previously released “Broken Lipstick”.
Kammu Dee – Siya Trenda
Kammu Dee comes through with a brand new song titled “Siya Trenda” featuring Cassper Nyovest and usual collaborators Semi Tee & Miano. Kammu Dee has taken over the airwaves lately collaborating with some of Mzansi’s finest acts and dropping hits including “Gabadiyah”, “Labantwana Ama Uber”, and more! DJ Maphorisa – Gold Rollie
Prominent South African DJ and record producer; DJ Maphorisa aka Lawd Pawry has finally dropped his much anticipated 5-track EP he titled “Madumane”. Off the EP tracklist comes this great track titled “Gold Rollie” and he featured Rich Hommie Quan, Saudi, and KLY. Have a listen below!
