Burna Boy’s “It’s Plenty” Takes Over Asian TikTok

Burna Boy

Burna Boy has been making headlines for various achievements like selling out stadiums, entering charts with songs like “Talibans II” and “Big 7,” consistently breaking records. He also recently announced his impending 7th studio album “I Told Them“.. Now, his song “It’s Plenty” is trending on Asian TikTok.

For music acts or followers of the music scene, we are fully aware of how important TikTok can be to a song, and how it has the ability to skyrocket its fame overnight once it gains appeal on the platform. In Nigeria, we can sight two examples, the major one being none other than Ckay’s Love Nwantiti, which became mainstream on TikTok, eventually becoming the best-selling African song worldwide and then we have Ku Lo Sa by Oxlade, the song also became popular on TikTok especially the ColorsxStudios version that even got a challenge on the platform and I think we know the wonders the song did worldwide. The point made here is that a song going viral on TikTok can lead to extraordinary success.

Now turning our attention to Burna Boy, what we anticipated being in the news – his recent works, such as the successful single “Big 7” breaking the record for most first-day Spotify streams and “Talibans II” entering the Hot 100. Unexpectedly, “It’s Plenty” begins trending on Asian TikTok. However, it’s essential to clarify that this doesn’t diminish the song’s significance, as it boasts impressive numbers with 83 million Spotify streams, 34 million YouTube views, and charting in at least 44 countries on Apple Music.

With that out of the way, it’s still surprising that Burna Boy’s “It’s Plenty” is currently gaining traction, over a year after its release, in an unexpected region like Asia on TikTok, accumulating more than 155.1 million views across different #ItsPlenty hashtags and over 6.2 million views under various #itsplentychallenge hashtags.

The trend features a unique custom dance created for the challenge. Upon investigating its unexpected resurgence, it is believed to have originated from a TikToker with the username @yourlologab, who devised the popular dance, igniting the challenge. This could potentially lead to another internationally recognized mainstream song.

We hope the song achieves immense popularity like its counterpart “Last Last,” but for now, we can only wait and wish for the best.
