Following trending reports in the social media about the declaration of a Wizkid Day, Punch had filed a report claiming there was no official statement from the Minnesota State Governor confirming the development.
The debate was however put to rest when Matt Swenson, Deputy Chief of Staff to Minnesota State Governor, Mark Dayton confirmed the development on Monday and shared a link to the PDF document which contained the official declaration.

According to the document which was officially signed, stamped and sealed by the governor, the reason behind the declaration was to honor the ‘Nowo’ crooner for his laudable achievements in music and for his role as a culture influencer. Some of his achievements include recently becoming the first African artist to sell out the Skyway Theatre Minneapolis, making a Billboard number one hit ‘One Dance’ with Drake among other notable milestone achievements.
