Ghanaian rap artiste Sarkodie has debuted on the prestigious Billboard Social 50 Chart.

Sarkodie is undoubtedly one of the most active and influential African artists online with over  8 million followers across the 3 major social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram).

The global lockdown situation has however seen the rapper take his online activity several notches up. With Instagram live battles catching on, Sarkodie initiated #BehindDaHitz an online battle series that saw some elite Ghanaian producers face off in a battle of hit records.

This later spiraled into the trading of shots online and on wax, culminating in the release of his diss track “Sub-Zero” which broke the internet.

Sarkodie debuted on the chart ah the 48th position. His entry makes him the first Ghanaian and one of the first African artists to attain such a feat.

Launched on December 11, 2010, the  Billboard  Social 50  is a popularity chart that ranks the most active musical artists on the world’s leading social networking services.
