Kay Slice is continuing with his excellent form as he unveils the brand new music video for early album fan-favorite ‘Takin It Home’ featuring Ghanaian artiste and producer Reynolds The Gentleman.
Written by Kay Slice and produced by Reynolds, with live instrumentation from Peter Somuah (Trumpet), Bright Osei Baffour (Lead Guitar) and Adu Berks (Drums), the infectious ‘Takin It Home’ sees Kay Slice waxing lyrical about returning to his roots in Ghana for a glorious homecoming to feed his soul. The track also comes with another Kay Slice and Edward Papoe visual collaboration, which captures the richness and diversity of Ghanaian culture.
Speaking about the inspiration for ‘Takin It Home’, Kay Slice says, “When you’re listening to ‘Takin It Home’, the sun will start shining straightway. It’s that feeling of home, from the food to the hot weather and the smell, it is literally about the feeling of coming home to Ghana. The song is a fusion of hip-hop and organic Ghanaian sounds. Palm wine music is the foundation of this uplifting homage to home, while the trumpets remind me of the brass bands I used to hear when I was in Cape Coast in Ghana. The song is uplifting and a musical invite to dance and have fun”.
Emerging as an exciting and fast-rising new artiste in the Netherlands for his glorious hip-hop and afrobeats fusion, Kay Slice has performed for the Dutch Royal Family, as well as on the biggest Dutch TV entertainment show De Wereld Draait Door, with the likes of Red Bull Music, 3VOOR12 and VPRO also singing his praises. He is now on a mission to spread his unique blend of hip-hop, soul, Ghanaian groove, afrobeats and highlife across the rest of the world. His music speaks to self-love, identity, finding yourself and connecting deeply with ones’ roots, and when it’s all said and done, Kay Slice wants to have left a rich impression on his generation.
