The feud between AKA and Cassper Nyovest, two very huge South African giants, was one that ranks among one of the biggest feuds between acts in the South African music scene.
The feud was especially peculiar because there were very many parts of the story that were totally unclear.
It was majorly just a big pile of contempt, physical confrontations, supposed reconciliations, and a lot of disses and subs at each other. In a bid to clear the air after many years of beef and healing after the tragic and painful demise of AKA, Cassper Nyovest revealed in an exclusive interview on L-Tido’s podcast the genesis of the whole beef. He revealed that it all started during the making of “Gusheshe”, Cassper Nyovest’s hit song that had Okmalumkoolkat on it.
Apparently, AKA wanted to be on that song, having the third verse, but Cassper declined and after much persistence from AKA, he still did not budge. This, according to Cassper, made AKA feel “unwanted”.
Cassper also mentioned that the beef had him in a downward spiral, with him worrying too much about “Kiernan” (AKA) and getting back at him, leading to him messing up his various relationships with people.
This downward spiral came after AKA dropped his diss track “Composure”. The performance of the “Composure” song in a club that Cassper was at in 2022 led to a brawl between the two that was dispersed quickly by security personnel.
Following that was a major back-and-forth between them and other subs thrown altogether.
With the tragic passing of AKA and Cassper Nyovest coming out on the issue publicly, we believe this is a journey for Cassper Nyovest in his healing process and sufficient light on the issue for us, fans.
