Seyi Vibez Acknowleges Runtown as a Major Musical Influence

Seyi Vibez and Runtown

Most of the Afrobeats’ big names in the industry are now in Germany for the Afrobeats Festival.

The Afrobeats Festival is one of Germany’s biggest festivals that attracts an impressive amount of attendees, it also features many of the biggest major players in the afrobeats game on it, last year they managed to pull Wizkid and Davido onto their stage and this year is no different, they have big names like P-Square, Runtown, Mr Eazi, Asake, Yemi Alade, Black Sherif and a host of others. I’m sure we wish we were in Germany to get a first-hand experience of this glorious lineup.

Beyond the fantastic performances, the invited acts had some wholesome moments together. We saw Oxlade, Rahman Jago and Asake together having fun backstage, we saw King Promise and Victony having a chat. King Promise mentioned something about shared management that has sparked speculation about a possible collaboration. We also saw Oxlade and Black Sherif together sharing smiles and friendly banter.

But the moment that caught our hearts was between Seyi Vibez, Runtown and Adesope Olajide also known as Shopsydoo or the Energy Gawd. Adesope had earlier met with Runtown and it seemed like moments after, they were joined by Seyi Vibez. Shopsydoo then made a striking statement, he said Runtown was the first person that put him on to Seyi Vibez, and that was four years ago, it is awe-inspiring to know that Runtown was on Seyi’s sound since way back in 2019, before most of us that jumped on the train at Chance (Na Ham) in 2022, and not only that he was putting other people on to his sound, rendering a selfless act of free promotion. Seyi Vibez then went on to express his gratitude, acknowledging Runtown as one of the OGs and a major influence in his career, even one of the acts that inspired him into venturing into music.

It was a truly beautiful moment between the two of them, one that really warmed our hearts. These interactions among the Afrobeats artistes demonstrate that the industry works like a family, dispelling any notions of contempt between them despite internet perceptions. Moments like this are what we love to see.
