Breakthrough Ghanaian rapper Yaw Tog drops his new single ‘Sei Mu’.
Premiered by Dotty on Apple Music, ‘Sei Mu’ is a Twi term often used to express fun as a result of pure happiness. Switching things up, the song mixes his distinct gritty sound with a Dub-infused Khendi Beatz production. ‘Sei Mu’ is his first single since graduating high school and follows his debut EP ‘TIME’, a project that took the music world by storm earlier this year.
Yaw Tog became synonymous with the Ghanaian Drill movement after receiving global recognition for his viral breakout hit, ‘Sore’. The song went on to break a number of records and was remixed by two heavyweights, Stormzy & Kwesi Arthur, which catapulted the track further into the hall of fame.
When speaking about Ghanaian Drill it’s impossible not to mention other key players including; Sean Lifer, O’Kenneth, City Boy, Reggie, Jay Bahd, Kofi Jammer to name a few, who were all instrumental in taking the local scene internationally.
Recently turning 18 and leaving school marks a new chapter for the pioneering rapper who is finally where he wants to be, making music full time. Still, so early on in his career he has achieved some major accolades, yet he remains grounded, determined, humble and ready to put the work in.
Artists like Yaw Tog come around once in a blue moon and completely switch the game up, changing it for the better. You only have to look at the ever-increasing interest from his peers to know he is the one to watch out for.
