South London singer, songwriter, and producer StyllerSupreme channels his toxic R&B loverboy on the new single ‘Love On You’.
The song which arrives just in time for this year’s ‘Lovers Month’ was written and produced by StyllerSupreme with James Aiken. ‘Love On You’ is an infectious R&B and afropop fusion track that is the perfect antithesis to the fluffy love songs that litter Valentine’s Day every year – on this new offering, StyllerSupreme is open, honest and transparent about his toxic ways as he tries to keep a failing relationship going, just for the physical intimacy.
StyllerSupreme’s ‘Love On You’ also comes with a captivating music video starring up-and-coming creative and artist Monique Aday that further brings the catchy track to life. Shot on location in London, and directed by Shireen Kadhim for Visionnaire Pictures. The visuals offer a comic abbreviation of the relationship that inspired ‘Love On You’, with StyllerSupreme seemingly channeling ‘The Joker’ and his onscreen lover channeling ‘Harley Quinn’. As the South London newcomer puts it, “the video is mainly about toxic love symbolized by a toxic couple”.
Speaking about the inspiration behind ‘Love On You’, StyllerSupreme says, “The song is inspired by
my last relationship and how toxic it was looking back. I knew I had to end things, but I was keeping
myself in the ‘situationship’, because I had serious feelings for her. The last time we spoke, I asked
her if we could link up one more time so we could make love one last time, but thankfully for both of
us, she said No. That conversation was the main inspiration for this song, which feels like reminiscing
over our time together, which felt good in the moment, but was really toxic for both of us”.
Highly recommended if you like the sounds of Fireboy DML, Parytnextdoor, or Burna Boy, StyllerSupreme comes with his own dynamic fusion sound, driven by R&B and afrobeats music, with hints of pop and hip-hop in its DNA.
