South-African Afro-Soul singer-songwriter Simphiwe Dana, paid a glowing tribute to her late mother on Instagram this weekend on Mother’s Day.
She did this under a post from one of her performances, during a joint theatre work with creative director and dancer, Gregory Maqoma titled, MAYO, which took place last month.
She posted:
“Our first Mother’s Day without you Wushekazi. Without our anchor. Bhabha Mamjoli. Uphumle ❤️🩹❤️🩹❤️🩹”
Simphiwe Dana, who is known for promoting activism through her music in her native Xhosa language, unfortunately, lost her mother last year to the coronavirus (Covid-19).
