Princess Wonda

South London Afro-pop artist Princess Wonda released her debut single City Boy on all streaming platforms Friday 3rd January 2020.

Speaking about single City Boy, Princess Wonda says, “Creating good music that resonates with others means everything to me”. City Boy was influenced by a phase every girl goes through when easily impressed by the Mr popular, flashy boy type”. She goes on to say “with the rise in social media and dating apps, I wanted to draw attention to how easy it is falling in love with a façade and like Catfish not see the deceit”.

The Afro-pop song was written by Princess Wonda and produced by “Damibones” who delivered great hits such as “NewAgeMuzik – Da Bea”

Princess Wonda’s music journey began in her church choir, where she had the opportunity to learn from and sing with industry artists. She has over 12 years’ experience as a backing vocalist, working with Grammy award winners such as Israel Houghton, MOBO award winner Dappy as well as being mentored by industry music director with over 40 years of industry experience. She was also featured on BET for doing a group single geared towards raising money during the Haiti crisis at Abbey Road Studios.

Inspired by a mixture of pop legends like Beyoncé and Afrobeats icons Lagbaja, Fela Kuti, this blossoming, young talent brings the familiar sounds, dynamics, and melodies of RnB way fused with Afro swing and contemporary soul.

City Boy is the first single from Princess Wonda’ EP due for release Summer of 2020. Listen here:
