Herman Suede’s “How Dare You” Visuals Unveil A Stunning Fusion of Music and Culture

Herman Suede

Herman Suede seamlessly intertwines contemporary soundscapes with cultural references in the newly premiered visuals for “How Dare You”.

This 2024 debut single from Herman Suede is a fusion of traditional elements with contemporary beats, offering a unique glimpse into modern highlife through the eyes of a Gen-Z artist.

Produced by the talented 18-year-old Ghanaian producer, G.V. Made It, “How Dare You” is a captivating Afrobeats piece, infused with soothing guitar melodies and rhythmic drum patterns reminiscent of cultural folk tunes. The track explores the struggle of maintaining individuality while ensnared by someone’s charm, questioning the audacity of his love interest’s control over him.

Through vibrant imagery and cultural references, the accompanying visuals pay homage to the Ga traditional festival, Homowo, celebrating the Ga people’s journey and agricultural prosperity in their current settlement of Ghana’s Greater Accra Region. The festival also celebrates fertility and the blessings of twins, known “Akwele Suma”.

Featuring a cameo appearance by the fast-rising identical twin sister singing duo Lali X Lola, the visuals cleverly incorporate elements of the Ga Twins Festival, with twins donning white attire for a symbolic parade.

Another notable highlight is Herman’s interpolation of the popular “Yeyeeye” chant of the “Akwele Suma” rite in the song’s chorus, further reinforcing the connection to his roots and traditions.

It is evident Herman Suede’s personal experiences and cultural heritage deeply influence both the song and its visuals, creating a rich tapestry of storytelling.
