Fireboy DML Shares “Playboy”, His Debut Single of the Year

Fireboy DML Playboy

Award-winning Nigerian crossover artist Fireboy DML, who is “making the world listen” to Afrobeats, drops first single of the year “Playboy”.

This comes on the heels of his performance at SXSW for ‘EMPIRE Presents: The New Africa Powered by Pandora’ and receiving his first-ever BRIT Certified Gold record for global chart-topping “Peru” remix with Ed Sheeran.

Taking the year by storm with the success of “Peru” and his first US tour, Fireboy is seen evolving as an artist, person, and exudes newfound confidence as we head into the ‘playboy’ era. We see a rising Afrobeats star coming into his own as a mainstream trailblazer working with the likes of cross-genre heavy hitters Ed Sheeran, Madonna, and 21 Savage. This new single sets the tone for the highly-anticipated album to come with a mid-tempo beat, as he brings a flirtatious flair to his signature endearing vocals, “how do you want to play with the big playboy like me, girl do you want to play with the big playboy like me?

Named as Billboard’s March R&B/Hip-Hop Rookie of the Month, Fireboy DML received his first entry on Billboard’s Hot 100 list and over 500 million streams with hit single “Peru.” With remixes by Ed Sheeran, Blxst and 21 Savage, the track has hit #1 on the official Afrobeats chart in the UK and topped the charts in at least 22 countries since its initial release in July, including Nigeria, Tanzania, Liberia, Jamaica, France, Kenya, Ireland, and others.
