“Son Of Imo” is the captivating new afrobeats project from California-based Nigerian artist and songwriter Fii3rd to kick off an exciting start to his 2022, after inking an exciting partnership deal with UK-based music services company Afrisounds, who have previously worked with the likes of J Hus, Afro B and Kida Kudz.
With guest appearances from the likes of Yung6ix (Davido, Wizkid) and DwillsHarmony (Tiwa Savage, Ycee), Fii3rd’s Son Of Imo album comes on the back of lead singles ‘Amina’ and ‘For The Money’ going viral on TikTok with over two million plays on the platform.
Characterized by his distinct fusion sound of afrobeats, R&B, melodic rap and traditional highlife music, Fii3rd has delivered a project that reveals him as a force to be reckoned with in this explosive new wave of global afrobeats music. Thematically, the album sees Fii3rd opening about ambition, family, his current priorities in life and celebrity culture, to mention a few, but the album also sees Fii3rd offering up his nuanced takes on love and relationships – from the excitement of love at first sight to the perils of falling in love too quickly to the importance of long-lasting relationships.
Speaking about the inspiration behind his Son Of Imo album, Fii3rd says, “I’ve been working on ‘Son Of Imo’ for three years now. I wanted to make an album that served as a love letter to my hometown, family, friends and of course my listeners. The album is a culmination of all that I love in music and my own personal slant on afrobeats music. Each song on the album is a piece of my mind evolved into melodies, and my only hope is that it finds a new home in the hearts of fans and critics alike. I put my all into this project, I can’t wait to have people listen to these words of a ‘Son of Imo’”.
Championed across Africa by some of the continent’s biggest tastemakers including MTV Base Africa, Soundcity TV, Trace Urban, Cool FM and Wazobia FM, and highly recommended if you like the sounds of Wizkid, Davido, Fireboy DML or Burna Boy, Fii3rd made his debut in 2017 and has quickly carved out a lane for himself with his afrobeats and R&B fusion sound and breakout tracks such as ‘Iheoma’, ‘Gbam Gbam’ and ‘DIA’. His new album Son Of Imo has been three years in the making and the 17-track offering serves as his most ambitious project to date.
