Burna Boy & Byron Messia’s Talibans II Debuts on the Billboard Hot 100

Burna Boy

Byron Messia originally dropped ‘Talibans‘ as part of his album ‘No Love‘ in January 2023. The track quickly caught fire internationally, even securing spots on various Billboard charts like Mainstream R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay, Rhythmic Airplay, and R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay.

Speculations about an epic remix of the hit began swirling when Burna Boy landed in St. Kitts for the St. Kitts Music Festival. During his stay, he crossed paths with music sensation Byron. Thanks to the magic of social media, fans got a sneak peek of their epic hangout, sparking rumors of a remix in the making!

As predicted, the remix came almost a month later, with Burna Boy and Byron Messia showing insane chemistry. On the song, Burna absolutely spazzed, even subtly confirming his relationship with Jada Kingdom

The remix shot to instant stardom thanks to Burna Boy’s Midas touch, debuting at an impressive #99 on the Billboard Hot 100, marking a monumental achievement for both these incredible artistes.

We’re witnessing history in the making as this marked Byron Messia’s debut on the chart, making him the first St. Kitts and Nevis artiste to chart on the Billboard Hot 100.

This isn’t Burna Boy’s first rodeo, though. He also makes history as the first Afrobeats artiste to debut on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in three different years and with two different albums. Burna has formerly appeared on the chart with the feature on Justin Bieber’s “Loved By You” in 2021 which peaked at No. 87 and “Last Last” in October 2022 which also peaked at an impressive No. 44.

‘Talibans II’ is also predicted to hit the top 10 on the UK official charts. If that happens, it’ll be the first dancehall track to achieve this feat since Sean Paul’s ‘We Be Burnin” in 2005, smashing an 18-year record.
