Grammy award winner Burna Boy continues to make history as his hit single, ‘Last Last’ and album, ‘Love, Damini’ set records in the UK.
Burna Boy’s ‘Love, Damini’ album which was released on July 8, 2022, debuted at number 2 on the UK album charts following ‘Harry’s House’ by Harry Styles. This makes it the highest charting African album of all time. ‘Last Last’, a lead single off the album is his first solo single to enter the top 10 of the UK official singles charts. It’s currently at the number 7 position.
This feat was announced by Official Charts, which is the UK’s only official music chart, on July 17 and the song has the potential to move to a higher position.
The African Giant previously reached the UK Top 40 chart with his ‘African Giant’ album debuting at number 16 and ‘Twice As Tall’ debuting at number 11.
Quite a number of musicians including Ghanaian rapper, M.anifest, Ed Sheeran, Angelique Kidjo and others have called on their fans to support Burna Boy to make history by making it to the number one album in the UK.
Burna Boy has however kickstarted his ‘Love Damini’ Summer Tour. It began yesterday July 17 in Barbados and is expected to end July 31 at the State Farm Arena In Atlanta, GA.
