Nigerian musician Victony has released a new version of his hit single Soweto with Rema, Don Toliver and Tempoe.
In this infectious track, the three powerhouses confess their love to their leading lady.
On teaming up with Don Toliver and Rema for the remix, Victony shared, “Soweto is such a special track for me so it was very exciting to team up with Don Toliver and Rema for the remix. I can’t wait for all my fans to hear the new track!”
The original “Soweto” track is a beautiful collaboration between Victony and multi-platinum, diamond-certified producer Tempoe. Victony also released a stunning music video for the track in October 2022, directed by Jyde Ajala, which has gained over 35 million views. “Soweto” is featured on his EP titled Outlaw, and was included on Rolling Stone’s top Afropop songs of 2022 list. On TikTok, the song has over 1 million streams and over 1 billion views across all videos.
The remix comes from Victony’s debut EP release, Outlaw, from May 2022. The EP currently has over 300 million streams. The project was a remarkable comeback for Victony given the near-death tragedy he experienced; in April 2021. He was involved in a car accident that almost claimed his legs and had him in a wheelchair for months. He managed to overcome this setback, and released several widely acclaimed singles later that year including “Pray”, and the Mayorkun collab “Holy Father.”
