Rema walked off the stage at his Atlanta show last night after expressing his displeasure and disgust over the poor organization of the show.
What allegedly happened was that the show started at 8 PM as scheduled, with Crayon and Victony performances but Rema was nowhere to be found, the DJ then went on to play music to kill time while waiting for Rema to which fans became restless and started booing.
When Rema finally appeared over two hours late, he performed two songs for about ten minutes before stopping mid-set. He complained to the organizers about the heat, poor sound quality, and other technical issues, apologizing to his fans, saying that it was a disrespect to him, his fans, and Afrobeats in general, promising to reschedule the show after which he walked out on stage.
This was not well-received by fans, especially those who had bought tickets. Some even said they had lost interest in the show altogether and wanted their money back.
Rema has since made an official apology on his Instagram story. He said that various technical issues and improper ventilation caused him to halt the show abruptly. He also said that he loves his fans too much not to give them a proper show worth their money, and promised to keep fans updated on a new date or refund.
This is some not-so-pleasant news from Rema’s North American tour, which had been going well up until this point. Hopefully, this is resolved soon and does not act as a deterrent to future shows.
