Okyeame Kwame Speaks On Why Akyeame Had To Break Up

Okyeame Kwame

In an interview, Okyeame Kwame, brother of Flowking Stone and known by his beloved moniker Rap Doctor tells us how he parted ways with Okyeame Quophi of Akyeame fame.

Speaking with award-winning British Ghanaian entrepreneur and TV presenter Akosua Dentaa Amoateng popularly known as Dentaa, he made some revelations as to why he went solo.

When I came back to Ghana, Okyeame Quophi and I had grown from boys to men. We had two separate ideologies on how to move forward. So we couldn’t work together as a group anymore and then I went solo in 2004.

Later in the interview, he revealed the major reason why Akyeame broke up.

On my return, Okyeame Quophi at that time was working at a radio station and I’d tell him: My brother, I am Broke! I’m living with my mum in an apartment and we will soon be evicted. Let’s go and do shows and he’d refuse because he worked at Fox FM and was getting paid at the end of the month. I wasn’t. So I started accepting the shows and doing it myself and that is what actually created the breakup.

Also in the interview with Dentaa, Okyeame Kwame said he and Okyeame Quophi with their group Akyeame created the sound that made skeptics and the older generation fall in love with Hiplife music.
