Video streaming service Netflix will soon start deleting and cancelling subscriptions on inactive accounts.
The new measure applies only to accounts that have been inactive for at least a year. The company will however make the effort of reaching out to inactive users first this week via email and in-app notifications to find out if the still want to remain subscribed. If they do not hear back, the account in question will automatically be cancelled.
According to Netflix these inactive accounts represent less than half of one percent of their overall member base. This new measure is intended to help customers save money by stopping them from paying for a service they don’t use.
More details can be found in a blog post on the company’s website.
