Mestar Oscar keeps championing experimental afro-infused electronic music with his all-new single “Kutu”.
Having left a vacuum after 2018 and 2019’s Duku and Desole respectively, fans of Mestar Oscar were thrilled when he made a return with last Christmas’ viral number “Me Ho Shi”. Mestar Oscar looks to keep his fans engaged as he follows up with his first 2021 release titled “Kutu”.
Born Oscar Azims Valentine, Mestar Oscar is carving a niche for himself as one of Ghana’s leading
Afro-EDM export. Fingering Ghanaian highlife music from the ‘90s through to the 2000s; specifically from the likes Castro, Daddy Lumba, Ofori Amponsah, as well as electronic/pop music specifically from Rihanna and Chris Brown, Kygo, Avicii, The Chainsmokers, and Sia, as his biggest musical influences.
Dance is a conduit through which certain undying energy perpetually manifests. Doubling as a professional dancer, Mestar Oscar knows this too well, cleverly combining groovy dance elements with innuendo-laden lyricism. Produced by BabaWyd, with Fortune Dane, and Denis Emery playing the roles of mixing and mastering engineers,
respectively, the sexually “Kutu” is consistently warm and colourful, reminiscent of certain hot afternoon days and cool blue nights under neon lights.
