Canadian-Nigerian musician Kelly Anthony gives his listeners a taste of his impending EP “The African Prince”.
The EP is scheduled for release on August 13th and Kelly gives us a feel with the release of two songs. The Nigerian musician based in Toronto has recently collaborated with two hot Ghanaian artistes—Sarkodie and Larruso— for his singles “Pagans” and “Untimely” which he featured Vory.
Although residing in North America, the young musician still holds on to his African roots. Music has always been a passion for Kelly Anthony. To him, music is a tool he uses to expresses his genuine feelings. In 2017 Kelly Anthony had the opportunity to open for one of his music idols, Davido, at the Canda leg of his 30 Billion World Tour.
His latest releases are a manifestation of Kelly being immensely influenced by the sonic elements that are currently coming out of Lagos, Nigeria and the path Afrobeats has taken within the last decade.
On the London-produced “Pagans”, Kelly and his collaborators (Sarkodie and Larruso) make an ode to his dreams and aspirations while the Kel P-produced “Untimely” has shades of Kelly’s precise songwriting, while its hard-hitting chorus adds some diversity to the song.
