Fireboy DML’s Performance at the BET Awards Showcased the Beauty of Afrobeats

Nigerian Afrobeats sensation, Adedamola Adefolahan, popularly known as Fireboy DML gave a memorable performance at the 2022 BET Awards.

The YBNL signee performed at the awards event for the first time ever on Sunday, June 26, 2022, at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles.

He started his performance with a rendition of his latest single ‘Playboy’ before switching midway to his colossal hit ‘Peru’. The crowd was ecstatic as they couldn’t help but sing along and dance. Fireboy DML, who was also nominated in the Best International Act category lost to fellow Nigerian act Tems.

Speaking in an interview prior to the start of the event, this is what Fireboy DML had to say:

I’m just really excited to see Afrobeats go global because this is what we have been fighting for for centuries. I’m honored to be a part of the generation that makes it possible.

This also marked Pheelz‘s debut performance at the BET Awards; he performed his single “Finesse”, which features BNXN, at the BET Awards 2022 red carpet live pre-show.
