Apple Music kicked off the YVNG and FREE campaign in South Africa on 16th June in honor of the nation’s National Youth Day.

The YVNG and FREE campaign showcases South Africa’s new wave of artistes taking their sound to the rest of the world.

The chosen artistes include Money Badoo, Mlindo the Vocalist, Lloyiso, Nanette, Will Linley, Bernice West, Khanyisa, Angie Oeh, Kenza and Scumie.

Top songs featured on the playlist include, Blxckie’s ‘Khuphuka’, ‘Sikelela’, ‘Hamba’ and ‘You Wouldn’t Understand’.

Khanyisa’s shared her impressions of the playlist and its far-reaching impacts, saying, “This Apple Music playlist is the ultimate key to freedom, as it has songs to jump-start my day. These songs don’t only have great beats but have empowering messages for me, and that’s the freedom I need.”

Nanette, Scumie and Money Badoo all spoke on the power of the current crop of artistes, as activists through their music and their free-spirited nature empowered by the sense of freedom.
