Appietus and Jay Q faced off in an Instagram Live battle of hits that saw Ghanaian music emerge as the winner!
Music consumers are usually only aware of the artists performing the songs they love, but few are attentive to the producers behind these classics.
Both “students” of legendary Ghanaian producer Fred Kyei Mensah (Fredyma Studio), Jay Q and Appietus kick-started their respective careers in the mid-1990s, and are credited as key figures in shaping Ghanaian music into what it is today!
Instagram’s Live feature has perhaps never been as relevant it is now. Amid the coronavirus pandemic, the consumption of entertainment content is undergoing a revolution. The platform has made it possible for entertainers to interact with their fans, and provide a live experience, whilst observing a social distance. Instagram live interviews, battles and even concerts have now become a norm, at least for as long as this crisis persists.
Dubbed #BehindDaHitz, two of Ghana’s finest took to Instagram Live on Wednesday night for a historical clash that saw north of 7,000 viewers tuning in live.
A number of artists tuned in to see this showdown such as Sarkodie (who is actually the brainchild of the historical face-off), Prince Bright of Buk-Bak fame, Captain Planet of 4X4, Samini, D-Black, Pappy Kojo and host of others.
