Nigerian Afrobeats diva Tiwa Savage looks to return to her R&B roots with her next album. She made this known in her recent interview on Apple Music’s The Dotty Show.
The “Koroba” hitmaker stated in a new interview with Dotty Show on Apple Music that her upcoming album will be all conventional R&B as she returns to her first love. Tiwa disclosed that she plans to release a couple more songs while preparing for her next album when answering queries regarding the possibilities of a new project before her November gig in London.
“I want to take my time on my next project. My next project is going to be R&B, my first love. It’s not R&B Afrobeats but R&B,” Tiwa Savaged shared.
Tiwa Savage, a former participant on the UK edition of The X Factor reality program, emerged into the Nigerian mainstream in 2012, with an R&B sound that displayed her Western inspirations, and captivated audiences. Listeners may expect her forthcoming album to bring back memories of her debut record, ‘Once Upon A Time,’ as she returns to R&B. Her last released project in 2021, the ‘Water & Garri’ EP, which featured the hit single ‘Somebody’s Son’ with Brandy.
The Queen of Afrobeats is having a terrific 2023, which has seen her release a string of hit singles and make history with her performance at King Charles III’s Coronation ceremony. The songstress is also due to play at the OVO Wembley Arena, where she will be the first female Afrobeats artist to headline the 13,000-capacity venue.
