The sixth edition of Mzantsi Jazz Awards coming off later this year

The South African Jazz Awards, otherwise affectionately called, the ‘Mzantsi Jazz Awards, is coming off at the Soweto Theatre on August 27^th, in Johannesburg this year.

The organizers shared the motivation for the event saying, “We love music and we love Mzantsi. “We recognize the role of jazz music as a genre that deserves special attention in the evolving South African Music industry. The purpose is to celebrate, appreciate and venerate jazz as a musical form that not only entertains but also uplifts and heals the artist and the listener alike.“

After submission of entries, the nominees for the following categories will be announced on the website on June 30^th:

1. Best Jazz Album
2. Best Contemporary Jazz Album
3. Best Female Jazz Artist
4. Best Male Jazz Artist
5. Best Foreign Jazz Artist
6. Best Jazz Song
7. Best International Collaboration Jazz Album
8. Best Jazz Club
9. Best Radio Station Playing Jazz Music
10. Best Newcomer in Jazz
11. Best Traditional Jazz Album
