Ghanaian-Swedish Dancehall/Afrobeat Sensation Aurelia Dey Releases “Rising”

Aurelia Dey

Aurelia Dey drops the catchy and powerful ‘Rising’. Building up to the release of her album ‘Sunday Service’ in spring, her latest single and its accompanying video are both out now.

Working with producer Partillo Productions, Dey has created a sonically interesting and feel-good banger. With percussion and background vocals reminiscent of Afrobeat and Gospel, the rhythmic intonation and vocals are predominantly dancehall. The instrumental is synth-lead but subtle, complimenting Aurelia’s positive and memorable melodies.

‘Rising’ is a crisis anthem with a powerful message of pushing forward despite the setbacks you sometimes experience,” she explains. “The song was written in the Summer of 2019 when I visited my parents in their home country Ghana, a period where I felt my life took a positive turn.”

The track comes with a quality video that mirrors the mood of the song. It also marks the continued build-up to her much-hyped album Sunday Service, due for release in Spring this year. The afrobeat and dancehall masterpiece will include her previous release Powerbankand come with an extraordinary live show courtesy of her band ‘The Neighbours’, together with her, making ‘ADTN’.

From Swedish-Ghanain descent, Dey is a strong voice for equality and anti-racism, always finding new ways of expression be that acting, dancing, comedy or music. Her album will also touch on mental health openness and environmental awareness, and comes after highly successful previous releases such as ‘Sweet Love’ and ‘Kärleken Kommer’, each achieving 300k+ streams on Spotify alone. This, combined with the wonderful new music she is creating, make Aurelia Dey a highly promising artist for 2021 and beyond.
