Multi-talented South African act Moonchild Sanelly, has debuted her new single titled “Bashiri”. The release of the banger coincided with her Transgressive Records signing announcement. Speaking about the song, she said: “Bashiri is a song inspired by a woman’s testimony in a church where the pastor is treated like a god whilst monetizing religion.”
Ameen Harron ft YoungstaCPT & Nadia Jaftha – Y?Na
Cape Town producer Ameen Harron recruits rapper YoungstaCPT, and model Nadia Jaftha on collaborative single “Y?NA” (pronounced “EINA”) and its accompanying music video. “Y?NA” is the first single off Ameen’s forthcoming debut album. The feel-good hip hop cut is simply about having a good time regardless of what the haters may say.
Encore ft Amanda Black – Mina Nawe
Veteran music trio Encore make a return from a long hiatus with new single titled “Mina Nawe” which features sensational songstress and South African Idols alumni Amanda Black. “Mina Nawe” is an African love song narrating a love story that survives against all odds.
Mi Casa – Sweet Wine
Superstar South African afro-house trio, Mi Casa release their first single of the calendar year titled “Sweet Wine” from their yet to be released album dubbed “We Made It”. This will be the group’s debut release since signing to Universal Music division Afroforce1 Records.
Kabza De Small ft. Wizkid – Need You Tonight
Self proclaimed “King of Amanpiano” Kabza De Small has finally unleashed long-awaited 27-track album “I Am the King of Amapiano: Sweet & Dust.” Daliwonga, Wizkid, Burna Boy, Nia pearl, Focalistic, Madumane, Howard and Sha Sha make up some of the key features on the album. “Need You Tonight” featuring Wizkid is our pick off the star-studded album.
Nasty C ft DJ Whookid – We Made It
South African rap phenom Nasty C has outdoored “Zulu” – his third career mixtape, hosted by American–Haitian DJ Whoo Kid. Lead single “They Don’t” Atlanta rap icon T.I was released weeks prior. Our pick off the project is track 2: “We Made It”.
Manu Worldstar – Choko
Manu Worldstar builds anticipation towards the release of his debut 12-track album, “Molimo”, set for release on September 4th with single “Choko” whis an ode to pursuing dreams relentlessly. “Choko” comes off the back of a very successful release of “Nalingi”, which topped charts across the continent, going gold!
Tresor Riziki – Zwakala
Multiple award-winning South African artist of Congolese descent Tresor Riziki spreads infectious melodies with all-new single “Zwakala”, the lead single off his upcoming “Motions” album. Tresor has over the years earned a reputation for churning out classics which are void of time and season, “Zwakala” adds further credence to this assertion.
Biggy – Boet & Saartjie
Port Elizabeth’s very own Biggy, is one of the freshest talents to come out of the city taking the South African rap scene by storm with his unconventional Afrikaans approach. His latest joint “Boet & Saartjie” forms part singles which have followed his “Big Bigger Biggie” debut album released May last year.
Mafikizolo – Thandolwethu
Legendary duo Mafikizolo usher a new dance song that’s been titled “Thandolwethu”. The new release is a mix of blend of afrobeat and classic South African House music. Mafikizolo continue to last into decades and decades. As 2020 enters its second phase, they keep the fire burining with classical sounds and “Thandolwethu” falls right into that bracket.
